9 Things To Do in Denver, Colorado
The look on people's faces when I told them I was going on a honeymoon to Denver, Colorado, was priceless. I know most people want to soak up the sun, but in Texas, we get more than enough sun. I was ready to experience my version of a "winter wonderland." However, I needed to find a place with mountains...specifically, snow-capped mountains. My husband had always wanted to see mountains like the ones in pictures of Moscow, Russia. Given the current political climate in Russia, that trip has been moved further down the bucket list. So, Colorado was the answer.
For some reason, we believed Denver to be a small city encircled by mountains. We were only partially correct. While Denver is indeed surrounded by mountain skylines, the city itself is quite large.
We wanted to explore the city and get pictures of the Denver Broncos and Denver Nuggets stadiums while we were there. For some reason, we thought we could walk to both...we were dead wrong. However, we did make it to Ball Arena, the Denver Nuggets' basketball stadium. We took pictures with a statue of their mascot and a cute picture with the Broncos' stadium wayyyy in the background.
My husband and I also got to feel the vibes of downtown Denver. We went to Larimer Square, which was filled with gift shops, cafés, and mom-and-pop shops. The stringed lights added a festive and welcoming touch that makes you want to linger for a while.
The concept of the 16th Street Mall was intriguing.
