And the Winners of the 2022 Golden Globes Are...

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association officially announced the winners of the 2022 Golden Globes via Twitter on Sunday evening and some hearts melted in support, while others scoffed.

“The Power of the Dog”, a Netflix film, won best drama and “West Side Story”, by 20th Century and Disney, best musical or comedy. Jane Campion acquired the best director award for “The Power of the Dog,” and Kodi Smit-McPhee won best supporting actor. “West Side Story” actress, Rachel Zegler was named best actress in a musical or comedy, and her co-star Ariana DeBose won best supporting actress.


Nicole Kidman from “Being the Ricardos” won best actress in a drama, while Will Smith's “King Richard” performance won him best actor. Andrew Garfield from “Tick, Tick … Boom!” also won best actor in a musical or comedy.


Some television wins include “Succession”, which won best drama series and “Hacks” which won best musical or comedy series, both on HBO. “Succession” actor Jeremy Strong was named best actor in a drama and co-star Sarah Snook won best supporting actress. The “Hacks” star Jean Smart earned best actress in a musical or comedy. Michaela Jaé (MJ) Rodriguez made history as the first transgender woman to win a golden globe with her “Pose” performance. She took home best actress in a drama and Jason Sudeikis from "Ted Lasso” took home best actor in a musical or comedy.


This year, a minimal number of celebs celebrated their awards on social media, including Zegler, Rodriguez, and the official Twitter account for "Encanto", which won best animated film.
